Our History
Traditional Sash Restorations was founded with our customers entirely in mind. We wanted to provide our customers with a complete and efficient restoration process. When I first ventured into the trade of joinery, I served as a bench hand joiner. I then moved on to the full installation of windows.
I started by learning the full manufacturing side of joinery, through learning on the bench. I started with the making of casement windows, and stairs. As my experience and confidence developed I moved on to box sash windows, traditionally weighted and balanced spiral systems.
Once I had completed my training on the bench, including all the techniques, such as circular work and Gothic arches. I gained a passion for the conservation of architectural heritage work. As the years passed by, I have become entirely diverse in my field. Now, Traditional Sash is a completely family-run joinery manufacturers and my two sons work alongside me.
As the trade in sash windows has developed, you can find companies that can manufacture the windows, but do not install and vice versa. The attitude that we hold at Traditional Sash Restorations is “if you can make it, you can fit it.” I have never been fond of PVC windows, and I have a genuine passion for the traditional wooden box sash windows.
